Terms of Use & Privacy Policy
Last updated: May 2026 (v1.4)
PART A — General Terms of Use
1. About Feminal
1.1 Feminal is a product of Quinstru OÜ, registered in Estonia (EU) (“Quinstru”, “we”, “us”, “our”). Feminal is a wellness and educational platform for reproductive health. It provides cycle tracking, health recordkeeping, educational content, and communication tools between patients and clinicians.
1.2 Feminal is not a medical device. Nothing in the app constitutes professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The information provided through Feminal, including content from Alina, is for general educational and informational purposes only.
1.3 Feminal does not create a doctor-patient relationship. If you connect with a clinician through Feminal, that clinical relationship exists between you and your clinician — not between you and Feminal.
2. Eligibility and accounts
2.1 You must be at least 18 years old to create an account. Feminal verifies age at signup; accounts cannot be created by users under 18. We plan to introduce a version of Feminal for younger users in future, with appropriate safeguards and parental consent mechanisms in place.
2.2 You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your login credentials. You agree to notify us immediately if you suspect unauthorised access to your account.
2.3 You agree to provide accurate information during registration and to keep your account information current.
3. The service
3.1 Feminal provides: cycle and symptom tracking, health data recordkeeping, educational wellness content, an AI wellness companion (Alina), communication tools between patients and clinicians, and data export capabilities.
3.2 Alina is an AI wellness companion powered by a third-party AI provider. Alina provides general health education, data summaries, and wellness information. Alina does not diagnose, prescribe, provide personalised medical conclusions, or replace professional medical advice. You should always consult a qualified healthcare professional for medical decisions.
3.3 Cycle predictions, fertile window estimates, and phase indicators are statistical approximations based on the data you enter. They are not validated for use as contraception and should not be relied upon as the sole basis for any medical decision.
3.4 Feminal may include search features that help users find publicly available educational information about medications, supplements, and health topics. Search results may retrieve, link to, or summarise third-party sources. Search results are not personalised medical advice and are not a substitute for advice from a qualified clinician or pharmacist. Feminal does not determine whether any medication or supplement is safe, appropriate, effective, contraindicated, or suitable for a user. Feminal does not provide interaction checking, dosage guidance, prescribing advice, or recommendations to start, stop, change, or combine medications or supplements. Users should consult a qualified clinician or pharmacist before making decisions about medications or supplements.
3.5 We may modify, suspend, or discontinue any part of the service at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes where practicable.
4. Subscriptions and payment
4.1 Access to Feminal requires a paid subscription after any applicable trial period. Pricing is displayed at the point of purchase and may vary by region.
4.2 Payments are processed by Stripe (web and Android) or Apple In-App Purchase (iOS). We do not store your payment card details.
4.3 You may cancel your subscription at any time. Your access continues until the end of the current billing period.
5. Your responsibilities
5.1 You are responsible for the accuracy of the health data you enter into Feminal.
5.2 You agree not to use Feminal for any unlawful purpose, to attempt to gain unauthorised access to any part of the service, or to interfere with the operation of the platform.
5.3 You agree not to reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble any part of the Feminal application or its backend services.
6. Intellectual property
6.1 All intellectual property rights in Feminal, including the software, content, design, and trademarks, belong to Quinstru OÜ or its licensors.
6.2 We grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable licence to use Feminal for your personal, non-commercial use in accordance with these terms.
7. Limitation of liability
7.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, Quinstru OÜ shall not be liable for any indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of Feminal.
7.2 Quinstru OÜ's total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the twelve months preceding the claim.
7.3 Nothing in these terms excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
8. Termination
8.1 You may delete your account at any time through the app settings. On deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days.
8.2 We may suspend or terminate your account if you breach these terms, with reasonable notice where practicable.
9. Governing law
9.1 These terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of Estonia. For users in South Africa, the provisions of the Consumer Protection Act and POPI Act apply to the extent required by law.
9.2 Any dispute shall be resolved through good-faith negotiation in the first instance. If unresolved, disputes shall be subject to the jurisdiction of the courts of Estonia, except where local law grants you the right to bring proceedings in your own jurisdiction.
10. Changes to these terms
10.1 We may update these terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated via the app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
10.2 Your continued use of Feminal after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the updated terms. If you do not agree with the changes, you may delete your account.
11. General
11.1 If any provision of these terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions shall continue in full force and effect.
11.2 These terms, together with the Clinician Terms (if applicable) and the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and Quinstru OÜ in relation to your use of Feminal.
PART B — Additional Terms for Clinicians
These additional terms apply to users who create a clinician account. They supplement Part A. If there is any conflict, these clinician terms prevail.
By creating a clinician account, linking patients, or using any clinician features within Feminal, you acknowledge that you have read, understood, and agree to be bound by the terms set out below.
1. Nature of the service
1.1 Feminal provides administrative, communication, and record-viewing tools for clinicians. These tools allow clinicians to create an account, connect with patients who choose to share their logs, view patient-entered information, exchange messages, draft and send clinical notes and referrals to linked patients, and export records. Feminal does not diagnose, treat, prescribe, or independently manage any medical condition.
1.2 Alina, the AI wellness companion, provides general educational information and descriptive summaries limited to counts, dates, durations, and user-entered entries. Alina is not a clinician, not a second opinion, and not a substitute for professional medical judgement. Alina does not provide clinical decision support.
The clinician Case Review feature organises information from clinician-entered case discussions into structured topics for the clinician's independent review. It does not rank options, assign probabilities, assess suitability, or recommend care.
1.3 Any cycle logs, symptom logs, medication entries, supplement entries, notes, dates, or summaries shown in the clinician dashboard are patient-entered or descriptively derived from patient-entered data. They are provided for recordkeeping and convenience only and are not intended to support, supplement, or replace professional clinical judgement.
2. Clinician responsibility
2.1 You are a registered healthcare professional. You hold the relevant qualifications, registration, and professional indemnity insurance required to practise in your jurisdiction. Your use of Feminal does not alter, diminish, or transfer any of your existing professional obligations.
2.2 You retain full clinical responsibility for all decisions made regarding the care and treatment of your patients. Feminal and Alina do not assume, share, or reduce your duty of care.
2.3 You are solely responsible for any clinical interpretation or decision you make, whether or not you review information a patient shares through Feminal. You are responsible for independently verifying any information displayed on the platform.
2.4 You acknowledge that Feminal's outputs are generated from patient-reported data, rule-based algorithms, and AI language model processing. These outputs may be incomplete, inaccurate, or clinically inappropriate for a specific patient.
2.5 You agree not to rely solely on Feminal or Alina for any clinical decision, diagnosis, treatment plan, medication change, or patient management strategy.
3. Limitations and disclaimers
3.1 Feminal is not a medical device. It has not been registered with any regulatory body as a medical device and is not intended to be used as a diagnostic or therapeutic device.
3.2 Fertile window estimates, ovulation predictions, and cycle phase calculations are statistical approximations based on patient-reported data. They are not clinically validated for use as a contraceptive method or as a sole basis for fertility treatment decisions.
3.3 Alina's outputs are produced by a large language model combined with rule-based algorithms. AI outputs may contain errors or clinically inappropriate suggestions. Alina does not have access to the patient's full medical record, imaging, or laboratory systems beyond what is entered into Feminal.
3.4 Descriptive data summaries (e.g. “cycle length varies by more than 7 days”, “no period logged for 45 days”) are limited to counts, dates, and durations derived from patient-entered data. They are not clinical assessments, risk scores, or diagnostic indicators.
The Case Review workspace organises case considerations from clinician-entered discussions. It does not produce differential diagnoses, treatment rankings, probability scores, or clinical recommendations.
3.5 Feminal does not replace clinical examination, laboratory testing, imaging, or any other standard-of-care procedure.
3.6 Feminal does not recommend specific investigations, tests, treatments, or medications. Data observations displayed in the clinician dashboard describe patterns in patient-entered data only. The clinician is solely responsible for determining what clinical action, if any, is appropriate.
4. Data, privacy, and consent
4.1 Patient health data displayed on the clinician dashboard is patient-reported and patient-controlled. Patients choose what data to enter and can view and delete their data at any time.
4.2 Your access to patient data is governed by the patient-clinician linking mechanism. You may only view data for patients who have actively linked to your clinician profile via a pairing code.
4.3 You agree to handle all patient data accessed through Feminal in accordance with applicable data protection legislation in your jurisdiction, including (where applicable) the POPI Act, GDPR, and relevant professional ethical guidelines.
4.4 Conversations with Alina on the clinician dashboard are processed via the Anthropic API. Anthropic does not retain your data for model training. Patient names and direct identifiers are pseudonymised before being included in the AI context.
4.5 Feminal is a communication platform between you and your linked patients. Clinical notes and referrals you choose to send through Feminal are shared with the linked patient and are visible to them within the app. Notes and referrals are only shared when you actively send them; until sent, they remain in your own draft space. Working notes, draft clinical impressions, and any records you do not intend to share with the patient should be kept in your own clinical record system, outside Feminal. Records you have sent remain part of the patient's health record and may be subject to disclosure under applicable law.
5. Acceptable use
You agree to use Feminal and Alina in accordance with the following principles:
5.1 You will use the platform as one tool among many in your clinical practice, not as the sole basis for clinical decisions.
5.2 You will independently verify any clinically significant output before acting upon it.
5.3 You will not represent Feminal's outputs to patients as diagnoses, prescriptions, or definitive medical opinions.
5.4 You will not use the platform to practise outside your scope of registration, qualifications, or competence.
5.5 You will maintain appropriate professional indemnity insurance.
5.6 You understand that data observations shown in the clinician dashboard (e.g. “cycle length varies by more than 7 days”, “heavy flow logged without iron supplement”) are descriptive summaries of patient-entered data. They are not diagnoses, screening results, risk assessments, or clinical recommendations. You are responsible for any clinical interpretation you draw from these observations.
5.7 You will report any output that you believe to be clinically dangerous or materially misleading to support@quinstru.com.
6. Limitation of liability (clinicians)
6.1 To the maximum extent permitted by law, Quinstru OÜ, its directors, employees, contractors, and technology providers shall not be liable for any direct, indirect, incidental, consequential, or special damages arising from your use of the platform, including but not limited to clinical decisions made based on platform outputs, patient outcomes, inaccurate outputs, data entry errors by patients, or platform downtime.
6.2 Quinstru OÜ's total aggregate liability to you shall not exceed the fees paid by you in the twelve months preceding the claim.
6.3 Nothing in this agreement excludes liability for fraud, gross negligence, or any liability that cannot be excluded under applicable law.
7. Indemnification
7.1 You agree to indemnify, defend, and hold harmless Quinstru OÜ from and against any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses arising from your clinical decisions (whether or not informed by the platform), your breach of these terms, your violation of any applicable law or professional standard, or any claim by a patient arising from care provided by you.
8. Amendments
8.1 We may update these clinician terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated to you via the email address associated with your clinician account at least 14 days before they take effect.
PART C — Privacy Policy
Who we are
Feminal is a product of Quinstru OÜ, registered in Estonia (EU). This policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your data.
How your data is handled
Feminal stores your health data primarily on your device. When you connect with a clinician or sign in on a new device, your data is encrypted and transmitted to our secure servers for backup and sharing purposes. We use industry-standard encryption for all data at rest and in transit.
What data we collect
- Account information: Email address, authentication credentials, and your selected role (patient or clinician).
- Health data: Information you choose to enter, including cycle data, symptoms, medications, supplements, and health history. You control what you enter and what you share.
- Alina conversations: Messages with Alina are processed by a third-party AI provider (Anthropic) to generate responses. Where health data is included to give Alina context, names and direct identifiers are pseudonymised before transmission. This provider does not retain your data for model training. Conversations are stored on your device and synced to our secure servers so Alina can recall context across sessions and devices.
- Payment information: Processed by Stripe (on web and Android) or Apple In-App Purchase (on iOS). We never store your card details.
Who processes your data
Feminal uses a small number of trusted service providers to run the app. Each handles a specific piece of the service and is bound by contract to protect your data:
- Anthropic (United States) — runs the AI model that powers Alina. Your messages and the relevant health context are processed to generate Alina's replies. Anthropic does not keep your data to train their models.
- Mistral AI (France) — generates Alina's voice when you tap Listen. Text is sent, audio comes back, the text is discarded.
- Stripe (United States, Ireland) — processes card payments on the web and Android. Stripe holds card details; we only see subscription status.
- Apple (United States, Ireland) — processes subscriptions on iOS through In-App Purchase. Apple holds card details; we only see subscription status.
- Firebase / Google (United States) — analytics (usage events, screen views, session duration), push notifications, crash reporting. No health data is sent to Firebase.
- Twilio (United States) — SMS verification codes if you sign up with a phone number.
- SendGrid (United States) — transactional email (verification, password reset, receipts).
- Railway (United States, EU) — hosts the backend application and encrypted database.
Some providers are in the United States. Transfers of personal data are protected under Standard Contractual Clauses and, where applicable, the EU-US Data Privacy Framework, with equivalent protections for transfers from South Africa under the POPI Act.
How we use your data
- To provide health tracking, wellness information, and educational content through the app.
- To back up your data securely so it survives device changes.
- To facilitate data sharing with a clinician when you explicitly choose to connect.
- To process subscription payments.
- To send transactional emails (verification, password reset, clinician notifications). We do not send marketing emails.
What we never do
- Sell your personal or health data.
- Use your data for advertising.
- Share your data with insurers, employers, or any third party without your explicit consent.
- Use your data to train AI models.
Data security
All health data is encrypted at rest and in transit using industry-standard methods. Access to patient data on our servers is restricted by role-based security controls. Only you and clinicians you have explicitly linked with can access your health information.
Clinician data sharing
Entirely opt-in. You connect with a clinician using a unique pairing code that the clinician gives you. Until you enter that code, no clinician can see your data. Once connected, your clinician can view the health information you have chosen to share, and can send you clinical notes, referrals, and records through the app, which appear in your Clinician's Notes. You can revoke access at any time. Clinicians are bound by their professional confidentiality obligations and by Feminal's Clinician Terms of Use.
Alina and AI
Alina is an AI wellness companion. She does not diagnose, prescribe, or replace professional medical advice. Her design includes safeguards for user wellbeing, including protocols for appropriate boundaries and mandatory referral to healthcare professionals for clinical decisions. Alina's AI provider does not retain your conversations or data for model training.
Feminal may display descriptive data observations based on information you enter — for example, noting that your cycle length varies or that a supplement has not been logged alongside a condition. These observations are limited to counts, dates, and durations derived from your data. They are not diagnoses, screening results, or medical assessments. They are provided for your information and to help you have informed conversations with your healthcare provider.
Medical disclaimer
Feminal is a wellness and educational tool. It is not a medical device, and nothing in the app constitutes professional medical advice, diagnosis, or treatment. The information provided through Feminal, including content from Alina, is for general educational and informational purposes only. It does not create a doctor-patient relationship. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare professional with any questions you may have regarding a medical condition. Never disregard professional medical advice or delay seeking it because of something you have read or received through Feminal.
Your rights
Under the EU General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR), the South African Protection of Personal Information Act (POPI Act), and applicable data protection laws, you have the right to:
- Access the personal data we hold about you.
- Request correction of inaccurate data.
- Request deletion of your data.
- Export your data in a portable format.
- Withdraw consent at any time.
- Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority.
Data retention
Server-side data is retained while your account is active. On account deletion, all associated data is permanently removed within 30 days. Local data is under your control and is removed when you delete the app.
Children's privacy
Feminal is an 18+ service. We verify age at signup using date of birth, and accounts cannot be created by anyone under 18. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we become aware that we have inadvertently collected data from a person under 18, we will delete it.
We intend to offer a version of Feminal designed for younger users in future. That version will include age-appropriate safeguards and the parental or guardian consent mechanisms required by applicable law (including COPPA, GDPR, and the POPI Act) before it is made available to minors.
Changes to this policy
Material changes will be communicated via the app and by email at least 14 days before they take effect. The “Last updated” date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
